Medical Coder

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Inpatient Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The Inpatient Medical Coder is responsible for accurately reviewing and assigning ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG codes for inpatient medical records to ensure compliance, proper reimbursement, and adherence to regulatory guidelines. Key Responsibilities - Review inpatient medical records to assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes - Ensure coding accuracy in compliance with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, DRG, and official coding guidelines - Abstract relevant clinical information from medical records - Work closely with clinical documentation improvement (CDI) teams and providers to clarify documentation when needed - Maintain productivity and quality standards set by the organization - Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations - Participate in audits and respond to coding queries or denials - Stay updated on coding guideline changes and payer requirements Qualifications - Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), CCS, or equivalent certification required - Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred - Minimum of 2 years inpatient coding experience or related - Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG systems - Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems - Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills - Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
